Dr Michael Keating - Principal
B.Med (Newcastle) FRACGP ACCAM (Mon)Designated Aviation Medical Examiner (CASA)

Prior to training in Medicine, Dr Keating worked as a Travel Agent & then undertook a Diploma of Applied Science in Nursing in Sydney. He graduated in Medicine from the University of Newcastle, NSW in 1989 as a mature age student. Moving back to Brisbane in 1991 with his wife and two sons he commenced surgical training gaining valuable experience in paediatric surgery & urology, plastic surgery and neurosurgery. In 1994 he moved into general practice in Rockhampton and attained his Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. An experienced pilot himself, he is also an aviation medical examiner for the Civil Aviation Safety Authority and a consultant in aviation drug and alcohol management. He also pursues his surgical interests performing skin cancer surgery and works with visiting Plastic & Reconstructive surgeons providing breast and abdominal plastic surgery procedures. With Dr Brad Lorraway he also provides a Sleep Apnoea Clinic diagnosing and treating snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea. Dr Keating has been practicing in Rockhampton for twenty years and is committed to providing a very high standard of care and going the extra mile for his patients

Dr Brad Lorraway - Principal
MBBS Qld. Dip.RACOG.FRACGP

Dr Brad Lorraway is a founding partner of City Heart Medical. He is Rockhampton born and bred, having 25 years of general practice experience. 

Whilst enjoying all aspects of general practice he has particular interests in Diabetes, Nutrition, and Diving & Travel Medicine, and treatment of Sleep Apnoea.

Dr Lame’ Bartlett
MBChB (Pretoria) FRACGP

Lame’ graduated in 1992, from the University of Pretoria, in South Africa.
Her work experiences have included environments in both Public and Private sectors.
At the 1 Military Hospital- extensive Ultra Sound/ Sonar experience in the Radiology Department. At the Pretoria Academic Hospital- in the Emergency Medicine Department.
The hospital environments were rewarding and challenging, but her passion was to do GP work- with a flair for Family Medicine- especially Woman and Children related health care.
This led her to practice medicine at the “Poly Clinic”, a Family Medicine Clinic attached to 1 Military Hospital, as well as various private 24 Hour Medical Clinics.
Lame’ and her family (husband Steven and daughter Caitlin) immigrated to Australia in 2007, together with Dr Kruger and his family, and settled in Rockhampton.
She has continued her focus in Family Medicine, and has a well-established practice at City Heart Medical.

Dr Sudarshan Sharma
MB BS FRACGP

Dr Sharma graduated in Medicine from India in 2003. Then he spent 2 years working in General Medicine at the NHS Hospital in UK. He immigrated to Australia in 2006 and joined the Accident & Emergency at Rockhampton Hospital where he gained wide experience in all aspects of medicine during his term for 3.5 years. He & his family like the friendly nature of the Central QLD people & decided to settle in Rockhampton. He lives with his wife and a son. He has been working as a General Practitioner at City Heart Medical since Jan2010 & obtained his Fellowship with Royal College of General Practitioner in 2012. He is interested & enjoys all aspects of general practice and aims to make general practice a warm, welcome and positive experience for all age groups. He is passionate about promoting preventive health medicine to region of Rockhampton and looks forward to meeting you.

Dr Sushil Kumar
MBBS FRACGP MRCS(Ed) EM Cert (ACEM)

Dr Kumar graduated in medicine from Chennai, India in 2002. After graduating he went to the UK and worked with NHS for 5 years.
He completed basic surgical training and MRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. After immigrating to Australia in 2009, he worked as a medical officer in Emergency Department at Rockhampton Base Hospital for over 4 years and did Certificate in Emergency Medicine from the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine.
He joined City Heart Medical in February 2014 and completed Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2016. He brings with him the vast experience of having worked in different health systems around the world.
Dr Kumar and his wife Sonia enjoy living in Rockhampton. He is interested in all fields of general practice covering physical and mental health, acute and chronic health problems in all age groups, skin and preventive medicine.

Dr Yvonne Chan
BBMed (UMelb) MBBS (UQ)

Yvonne graduated from the University of Queensland in 2015. Prior to that, she completed her Bachelor of Biomedicine at the University of Melbourne/University of California, Berkeley.
She worked at Rockhampton Base Hospital for 2 years before moving into General Practice and joined City Heart Medical Centre in January 2019. She enjoys all aspects of General Practice with special interest in Women’s Health.

Dr Leigh South
MBBS (Qld)

Born and bred in Rockhampton and educated at Rockhampton Girls Grammar School (where she was Dux and proudly added the prize in Home Economics to those of Maths 1, Maths 2, Physics and Chemistry!). Leigh graduated from Medicine at the University of Queensland in 1986. During her three years at Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra and Mater Children’s Hospitals and the Geelong Hospital, she developed a passion for Child Health and was Senior Resident Medical Officer in Oncology and Principal House Officer in Psychiatry. She completed her General Practice training with the Family Medicine Program, where she was Trainee Liaison Officer in 1991, and is a Vocationally Registered member of the Royal Australian College of General Practice. Leigh has been in General Practice in Rockhampton since 1992 and her other special interests include Women’s Health, Aboriginal Health and Skin Cancer Surgery. Outside work Leigh tutors in Indigenous Advocacy at the Charles Darwin University and manages her musician partner. Her two daughters are following in her footsteps, studying Medicine at the University of Queensland.

Dr Farhana Moushumi
MBBS, MPH, FRACGP, DRANZCOG

Dr Farhana graduated in Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 2004 from Bangladesh.  Then she moved to Australia and she had completed Master in Public health from University of Wollongong in 2006.  She did her intern and Junior resident training in Rockhampton Base Hospital in 2007 and 2008.  Then she went back to Sydney to do Obstetric and Gynaecological training at Major hospitals in NSW and QLD.

She has completed her Advanced Diploma Obs and Gynae.  She has a particular interest in Women’s health, Family Planning and Sexual Health. 

She feels connected and commited to Central Queensland and would like to provide best care for this community.

 
Dr Richard Shepherd
M.B.B.S. B.Med.Sc FRACGP

Almost a local, Dr Shepherd started grade 2 in Rockhampton and attended UQ for his medical degree. He spent an extra year undergoing multidisciplinary medical research before interning at RBWH. After that he went west to work in Mt Isa, and surrounds, for two years before returning to RBWH for a variety of rotations. Having worked in all the different medical specialties in Mt Isa, and then at Rockhampton Hospital, Dr Shepherd has a broad generalist background and completed his FRACGP training locally.

Although new to City Heart in 2021 Dr Shepherd has worked the previous 23 years in Rockhampton and so knows the area well. He is a keen historian and served as president of the local ADFAS chapter and was involved with the old Art Gallery. In his down time, he enjoys science fiction and has a certain notoriety having treated “Darth Vader” and so is more than just a GP.

Having married a local girl, he has no plans to leave town before he retires and so he will be here for a few more years yet.

Dr Debora Carnut de Moraes
MD (Brazil)

Dr Debora is a Brazilian GP who graduated in 2015 from the Souza Marques School of Medicine, in Brazil. She has dedicated her young career to Family Medicine in Brazil, where she worked for 4 years, before moving to Australia in 2019 to live with her partner. She has joined the City Heart Medical team of doctors recently.

Dr Debora enjoys all aspects of general practice, with special interests in Mental Health, Chronic Diseases, Skin and Preventive Medicine.

She speaks English and Portuguese.

Dr Iman Jafarzadeh
MD

Dr Iman Jafarzadeh graduated from medical school in Iran in 2018 and worked extensively in private general medicine, before relocating to Australia.

He has joined the team at City Heart Medical in 2024, as an experienced practitioner who is passionate about establishing rapport with patients and working together to achieve the best outcomes for improved health and wellbeing.

Whilst Dr Iman enjoys all areas of general practice, he has a keen clinical interest in both Men’s and  Women’s Health, Chronic Diseases (like Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease and Asthma), and Health Assessments.

He is fluent in both English and Farsi.

Dr Malika Samaraweera
MD

Dr Malika Samaraweera is an oversees trained MD from Russia and moved to Rockhampton back in 2019.  Dr Malika started her work at the Rockhampton Base Hospital for more than two years before moving to General Practice.

She has worked in several medical centres in Rockhampton region as a part of her GP Training Pathway and recently joined with City Heart Medical.  Currently, she is a part time Senior Medical Officer for the Hospital in the Home division in Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service.

Dr Malika enjoys all aspects of General Practice with the interest of Paediatrics.
